The Sonic Planet Helps Promote Grant Peeples’ Dylan Birthday Bash
Musician and singer/songwriter Grant Peeples and the St. Augustine, Florida Waterworks presented a celebration in honor of Bob Dylan’s 85th birthday on Sunday, May 24. Peeples, The Currys, Nora Bear and Trevor, and Bad Dog Mama took the stage to perform from the Dylan catalogue.
Peeples is a folksinger and songwriter whose influences include Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and Billy Bragg. He writes and performs songs that can be humorous or sharp, which often have a message about our world today. Peeples has produced 14 studio albums. Grant has performed at the Kerrville Folk Festival, the Woody Guthrie Festival, the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival, and the Antlers and Acorns Songwriting Festival.
The Currys—two brothers and their cousin formed a trio in 2013. All three core members of this folk rock trio sing vocals, creating great harmonies. Brother Tommy and Jimmy play guitar, and their cousin Galen plays bass. In 2023, they added a drummer, a keyboard player, and another guitarist to perform on their fourth album, Keepers. Recently, the group has performed in Guatemala, the Galapagos, and Cuba.
Bad Dog Mama— Lauren Gilliam and Chelsea Saddler—is one of St. Augustine’s favorite duos. Both are songwriters, and both excel at singing covers and making them their own. There is no song they can’t sing and few they haven’t sung.
Nora Bear and Trevor are a multi-generational duo. Nora Bear is a young singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who performs alone or with her step-dad, Trevor Bystrom.
This show in St. Augustine was one of several as Peeples brought Dylan’s birthday party to various locations in Florida. www.thesonicplanet.com was excited to help promote the event. It was as a great night.
