Meet the Curators
Mike Bonts grew up an AM radio junkie in Jacksonville, Fla.in the 1960s. Listening to local station WMBR was supplemented by clear signals from WLS Chicago, WKYC Cleveland and WABC New York. On-air stints at WMBR and WAPE in Jacksonville, WGGG in Gainesville and WRKT in Cocoa Beach afforded him the opportunity to work with great program directors including Bill Hughes, Jack McCoy, Jack Gale and Jon Roberts. Mike hosts the morning show on the Sonic Planet.
Jacksonville, Fla. native Butch Peiker is a retired radio disc jockey and program director living in North Carolina with his wife, Barbara, and two dogs and four cats. Butch worked for several Jacksonville stations in his long career including WZRO, WPDQ, WIVY, WKTZ-FM and WJAX-FM. He is heard daily on the Sonic Planet. He also does voice-over work and commercials from his home studio.
Another familiar voice on the Sonic Planet is broadcast veteran Cochran Keating. A St. Augustine, Fla. native, Cochran was the longtime morning show host on WJAX in Jacksonville and owned a station in his hometown. He is a voice artist who has voiced hundreds of radio and television commercials, long-form audio visual presentations, and audio for telephone and the web. He works from his studio in Monticello, Illinois.
