Roots Radio on the Sonic Planet Launches New Web Site, Programming at IBMA World of Bluegrass
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (September 17, 2025) – Roots Radio on TheSonicPlanet.com today announced the launch of a new web site and the addition of new programming to begin in October.
The announcement came on the opening day of IBMA World of Bluegrass®, Sept. 16-20. The week encompasses four events: the IBMA Business Conference at the Chattanooga Convention Center; the IBMA Bluegrass Ramble, an innovative series of showcases taking place in local venues; the 36th Annual IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards and IBMA Bluegrass Live!®, a two-day festival of live performances and fan experiences.
IBMA member the Sonic Planet worked with Branmarc design in St. Augustine, Fla. to unveil the new site. Branmarc specializes in crafting and executing innovative marketing strategies tailored for small and medium-sized businesses. Their expertise spans web and graphic design, as well as comprehensive consulting services.
The site features links to listen live to Roots Radio, an event calendar and a news blog. “What’s Playing” lets listeners know the songs and artists that are currently on air as well as the past playlist.
Roots Radio on TheSonicPlanet.com also announced two new programs debuting in October.
- Host Ronnie Moretz and the Catgut ‘n’ Jugs Bluegrass Show will now be heard weekly beginning Saturday, Oct. 4. at 10 a.m. The Catgut ‘n’ Jugs Bluegrass Show has been recognized as one of the best in recent years. Moretz was nominated in 2024 and again this year for the IBMA Broadcaster of the Year award. He was also nominated for the Society to Preserve Bluegrass Music’s Broadcaster of the Year award. A rewind presentation airs Sunday at 10 a.m.
- Host Ryan Janson brings his two-hour, weekly radio program, Reelin’ in the Years to Roots Radio. Reelin in the Years is your weekly dose of music education. Sort of like Ryans’ College of Musical Knowledge. He spins a mix of Americana, Album Rock, Oldies and Blues. And pulls back the audio curtain each week to unveil stories about the songs and interesting facts about the artists and songwriters. Reelin’ in the Years can be heard Friday night at 10 p.m. with a rewind Sunday at the same time beginning Oct. 3.
The programs join an impressive weekend lineup including Local Brew, Radio Free Ocklawaha, History of Rock and Roll, Strange Roots Radio, The International Americana Music Hour, The Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour and The High Road Radio Show.
